The Association

Jerry’s roots are found in the West Texas town of Brownfield.  Long before he was pastoring in Lubbock, he was visiting with his girlfriend (now his wife) the Hub City on date nights.  Jerry and Karla were high school sweethearts.  They got married way too young, 19 years young and started chasing God’s will together.  They both graduated from Hardin-Simmons University.  God has blessed them with three beautiful children and three grandchildren.  They count it a huge blessing that all their children live in Lubbock, especially those precious grand babies.

For the last 25 years, Jerry has served as a pastor of a local church.  All the way from a small country church south of Fort Worth called, First Baptist Church, Lillian, to a rural church, First Baptist Church, Clyde America. The most recent twelve years, he has had the blessing of leading Bacon Heights Baptist in Lubbock. 

Jerry’s great passion is to see GREATER KINGDOM IMPACT by churches choosing to cooperate together.  Synergy says that churches can do multiple more together than they can isolated and separated.  His passion is that the Association will foster churches in linking arms to achieve much more than ever before, for God’s glory

New churches need to reach the different people groups that are not being reached.​Pastor Ed Sena is a graduate of Wayland Baptist University.  Ed has been in the ministry for 34 years, having served full-time and also bi-vocationally as Pastor.  Ed and his wife Raquel have great commitment to Church Planting.  Ed and Raquel have been involved in Church starts in Texas, Idaho, New Mexico, Colorado as well as Mexico and Brazil.  Ed and Raquel truly believe that to reach the multitudes of people that are without Christ, there must be new churches established or started.  These 

Ed has worked in youth ministry, bus ministry, music ministry and has also served as Senior Pastor.  In the 34 years of ministry, Ed has only pastored two churches, those being Primera in Roswell, New Mexico and Templo of Lubbock, Texas.  Raquel has been Ed's bride for 33 years and has worked closely with him in the ministry that God has called them both to do.  They also have two sons Nathan and Joseph.  Ed was called to our Association on November 1, 2003.  We covet your prayers for Ed and his wife Raquel as they lead our Association in reaching those who are un-churched by starting New Churches........

Kenneth and Ambra Jackson serve as Pastor and First Lady of New Light Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas.  They have served that wonderful fellowship for approximately fifteen years.  Through their ministry, many people have been impacted by the Good News of Jesus.

Pastor Jackson also serves as African American Church Consultant for the Lubbock Area Baptist Association.  In this position, he serves as the key liaison person that helps connect African American Churches and pastors to the LABA.  He is a source of encouragement and information.

He is also current president of the African American Fellowship of Texas.  In addition, he serves as president of the West Texas African American Fellowship.  

Pastor Jackson grew up in Northern California and arrived in Texas approximately 15 years ago.  He currently lives in Floydada, Texas.

Cindy grew up in the Hereford area.  She married her high school sweetheart and was blessed to be able to be a stay at home mom until her 4 children were in school.  She has worked part time in churches and a private school since that time.  Her husband Jerry is the cowboy pastor of Lone Star Cowboy Church in Lubbock.  The LABA started the church in 2008.  They are so blessed to be church starters and to be a part of such an exciting ministry to unchurched. They have served as pastor and wife in ministry for 25 years since 1987.  They know God has put them here and is the absolute success of all that is going on at Cowboy Church.  

Their children are all married and graduates.  JJ, a daughter graduated from Texas Tech and is a stay home mom and home schools 4 children.  Heather, a daughter graduated from Hardin Simmons and is a part time RN and home schools their 3 children.  Dusty, a son is a graduate from WTAMU and is an engineer.  Ramie, a daughter is a graduate from Hardin Simmons and is an RN at Cook Children’s Hospital in Ft. Worth. 

Cindy loves working part time at LABA because she loves working and loves people.  It affords her the opportunity to spend time serving in ministry with her husband and family.  They have 10 grandchildren, 6 girls and 4 boys from infant to 16 years.  Cindy finds every way she can to be with them.

Angie grew up in Southeast Texas where she met her husband, Adam Pardue when he started serving at her home church.  After getting married in 1997, they moved to Lubbock to serve at Highland Baptist Church in 1999.  They worked in the youth and college departments of a few churches for almost twenty years.  They started a family when they lived in Lubbock in 2001 and they decided it would be best for Angie to stay home.  After leaving Lubbock for a few years, they moved back to Lubbock to be the Pastor and wife of Highland Baptist Church.  What an honor to be called back to a church where they felt so dearly loved.  They have two daughters who are in their last years of high school.  Avery is 18 years old and is a senior at Frenship High School.  She is interested in pursuing a Nursing degree. Abbey is 15 years old and is a sophomore at Frenship High School.  She is interested in pursuing a Musical Theatre Education degree.  Adam and Angie love their church and love being in ministry.  They also love their children and try to spend as much time with them as possible knowing that they won’t be living at home much longer.  Working at the LABA part time allows Angie to get to know the other pastors and wives of other churches as well as volunteers and lay people who come in to the office.  Angie expresses what a great joy it has been to work at the LABA and to work with her co-workers.  She feels that it has been a great experience to work in this capacity.

Russell has been in the volunteer staff position of Missions Minister at the LABA since March of 2012. He and his wife Rachel serve and live as volunteers at Plains Baptist Camp and Retreat Center (PBA).  He currently serves as Region 4 Director for Texas Baptist Men. Russell has served on the LABA Disaster Relief committee since 2002 and served on the Board of Directors at PBA from 2005-2012.  Russell and Rachel have been active disaster relief volunteers responding to numerous disasters across Texas and the United States. They also have specialty training and are certified as unit leaders, disaster relief chaplain trainers, mobile cleanout unit trainers, and basic disaster relief volunteer orientation trainers.

Russell has planned and led several international mission trips to Brazil and The Philippines.  He has also planned and led men's discipleship conferences at PBA as well as in the Philippines; they are members of FBC Ralls where Russell serves as prayer coordinator.  They both lead life transformation groups for men and women.

Both have a passion for seeing God's people respond to God's calling to be disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is their desire to continue working with churches and individuals who are interested in fulfilling the work that God has prepared beforehand for them to do.
